The state agency for Wisconsin veterans - state GI Bill and education grants, employment and licensure fee waivers, housing and homelessness assistance, property tax credits, mental health and suicide prevention, three state veterans homes and three state veterans cemeteries. WDVA also backs 72 County Veterans Service Officers and 11 Tribal Veterans Service Officers who file claims free of charge.

Wisconsin Veterans Network

Wisconsin nonprofit that connects veterans and their families to VA benefits, emergency relief, housing, legal help, mental health care and employment support, with a weekly Tuesday service day and a monthly on-site visit from the Veterans Benefits Administration. Its Onward Ops program pairs transitioning service members with a trained sponsor for the first 12 months after separation, coordinating GI Bill enrollment, VA health care, housing and job search. Open to anyone who served on active duty, Reserve or National Guard regardless of length of service, branch or discharge type; office hours Mon-Fri 8am-4pm.

County government office for veterans benefits, serving veterans and their dependents who live in Cass County (Fargo, West Fargo, Horace, Casselton). Staff help prepare, file and follow up on VA claims - disability compensation, pension, survivor benefits, education, home loan eligibility, VA medical care and burial benefits - and can certify or help locate DD-214 discharge papers, all at no charge. Service is mainly by appointment (Monday 12-5, Tuesday-Friday 8:30-5), with walk-ins taken case by case.

North Dakota's state veterans agency, headquartered in Fargo, which helps ND veterans and their dependents apply for federal and state benefits at no cost. It administers state programs including the Veterans Aid Loan, hardship assistance grants, and a PTSD service dog grant (offered with Service Dogs for America); state programs generally require North Dakota residency. It also publishes the statewide directory of county Veteran Service Officers, who are appointed and funded by each county under NDCC 37-14-18/19.

Bell County Veterans Service Office

Free county Veteran Service Office for Bell County, assisting veterans and survivors in obtaining benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Texas Veterans Commission. The office is accredited with DAV, NACVSO, TVC and VFW. It also runs an Emergency Hardship Financial Assistance program providing temporary emergency help to eligible veterans, surviving spouses and dependents, supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance — an appointment is required, call and press option 3. Phone menu: option 1 Assistant VSO, option 2 Director/VSO, option 3 financial assistance. The walk-in office is in Killeen; mail goes to P.O. Box 2169, Belton, TX 76513.

Coryell County Veterans Service Office

Gatesville / Copperas Cove TX · Fort Hood area county veteran service office

Free county Veteran Service Officer serving Coryell County veterans, with coverage split between Copperas Cove and Gatesville, assisting with federal VA and State of Texas benefit claims. Two locations are reached through one number: dial 254-865-5911, then extension 319 for Copperas Cove or extension 320 for Gatesville. The county also lists a direct line, 254-248-0676, and the email vso1@coryellcountytx.gov. Coryell County publishes no street address for this office on its Veterans Assistance page, so call before driving over.

Asked what it charges, TVC answers "Nothing." Advisors are located in VA regional offices, VA medical facilities, VA clinics and military installations across Texas. Book an in-person or phone appointment through TVC's online claims scheduler or by calling 1-800-252-8387; TVC asks that you allow 24-48 business hours for a response to an inquiry.

Williamson County Veteran Services

County accredited Veteran Service Officers give free help to Williamson County veterans, dependents and survivors in obtaining benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the state of Texas and Williamson County. The main office is the Georgetown Annex at 100 Wilco Way; the county also posts accredited assistant VSOs at the Round Rock Annex and the Taylor Annex. Through a Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance grant the office administers one-time financial assistance for eligible veterans, current and surviving spouses, and dependent children who are Williamson County residents. Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m., by appointment only.
