About location search and distances
ZIP codes and city names use a local copy of GeoNames postal data, adapted under CC BY 4.0. City results use the average of the listed postal locations and are approximate. A ZIP code is more specific. U.S. place search covers the postal locations in this dataset; overseas visitors can use device location or the worldwide map. Your browser or operating system may use its own location provider when you grant location access.

Saved base IDs stay in this browser until you remove them. Opening a shared comparison previews those bases; choose Save comparison on this device to keep them while browsing guides. A comparison link includes only the selected public base names. It does not include your nearby-search location or checklist progress.

How these guides are researched
Each guide cites public official installation, service, unit or government sources and shows a review date. The library covers selected major installations, Guard and Reserve sites and recurring rotational locations. It is not a complete inventory of every DoD property. Combined map entries are identified in their guide. Changing details such as availability, allowances and office contacts are linked to official resources. Career suggestions reflect the mission and your own experience; they are not vacancy listings.

How do I find military bases near me?
Use the nearby finder to search a U.S. ZIP code or city and state, or choose Use my location for device location anywhere in the world. The directory covers selected installations; it does not list every military property or provide driving directions.
Does this map show every U.S. military installation?
It covers 244 curated map entries across five regions, including major installations, selected Guard and Reserve sites and selected recurring rotational locations. It is not a complete DoD property inventory.
Can I search using an older base name?
Yes. The map and guide library include researched aliases and former names. Search the name you remember, then read the guide for its current identity and official sources.
Where do I find housing, schools and family services?
Start with the official resources in the installation guide and the MilitaryINSTALLATIONS directory. Confirm the support community for your assignment before choosing housing or contacting services.
Are the career suggestions actual job openings?
They are suggestions based on the public mission and need to be matched to your own work and qualifications. Use current job announcements or LockLeed’s open roles for available positions.
How are the guides sourced?
Each guide lists the public official sources used for installation facts and shows its review date. Planning questions and career suggestions are identified as LockLeed editorial guidance.
